National Recognition for Seven Stories work in our Community
Published 15.12.2020
Fantastic work from our friends over at Seven Stories The National Centre for Children’s Books! Making a real difference to those in need in our community! Well done Seven Stories, you deserve to have received national recognition for your excellent work!
This year, more than ever, there are families who may not be looking forward to Christmas.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, Seven Stories has been part of a community wide response, distributing children’s books, story inspired activities packs, food and snacks and providing Facebook storytimes and doorstep stories for families in East Newcastle who need our help. Our work has won national recognition as Best Lockdown Project at the Museums Change Lives Awards.
But we know many local families are still facing challenging circumstances.
Can you help us continue our award-winning work to get books and play activities into the hands of children who need them most?
This Christmas, Seven Stories will be going door-to-door, distributing books, food and telling magical stories to individual children on their doorstep. And we’ll still be there in 2021, supporting families to relax and have fun together.
How families and visitors can support the Seven Stories’ Festive Doorstep Stories campaign this Christmas:
– Donate £10, or whatever you can spare, to Seven Stories and give children something to smile about this Christmas.
– Take inspiration from our festive selection in the Seven Stories Bookshop and give the gift of story to a child in your life this Christmas – and choose a favourite title to gift forward to a child in need of a book complete with a note explaining why you want to share it. Our bookshop is open Thursday through to Sunday 11am – 4pm.
